Since we are paying off over $600k of student loan debt, holidays have to be fairly simple around here. In fact, we have become pros at saving money during various holidays. (Easter, Christmas, etc)

So, if you are like us and broke but in love this Valentine’s Day, show your love without spending a ton of money with our list of cheap or free Valentine’s Day gift ideas.

      1. MAKE A PERSONALIZED HOMEMADE CARD.

One of the easiest ways to show the one you love that you care is by creating a personalized card for them. I think this is single-handedly the only reason I get excited about Valentine’s Day. I love seeing Danny’s reaction to the cards that I make him. One of his favorites, for obvious reasons: cheap or free Valentine's Day gift ideas

      2. WRITE A POEM

You don’t have to be a modern day Shakespeare to string a few sentences together that rhyme. Your lover will be impressed and your bank account will be too! And if you really need help, this website will generate poems for you for free. Ha.

      3. MAKE A LOVE TIME CAPSULE

Get an empty bottle or mason jar and fill it with memories of you and your lover. This could include things like ticket stubs from movies or concerts you’ve seen, written memories, and photos of meaningful events in your relationship.

      4. MAKE OR BUY A HAND CARVED NECKLACE OF YOUR INITIALS.

Get crafty by making a necklace of your initials for your valentine, or buy it for less than $10 on Amazon.

      5. UNDIES.

The clearance racks at Victoria’s Secret and Gap almost always have excellent under clothing in stock at undie-dropping prices!

      6. A LOVE FERN.

Nothing says “true love’ like a love plant. I usually buy plants from the clearance rack at our local Lowe’s. You can usually find plenty of options for less than $10. A plant might be preferable to flowers since it is long-lasting, just like your love 😉

      7. A MASSAGER.

Give the gift that keeps on giving. THIS ROLL ON MASSAGER is the BOMB, costs less than $15, and can be used without you having to do the work of massaging. Or if you’re really cheap, offer to give your lover a massage 🙂

      8. SOCKS.

Give your Valentine some fun socks so that he/she can think of you during the day. It will be your little secret!

      9. MAKE A PLAYLIST OF SONGS THAT REMIND YOU OF YOUR LOVER.

Remember the days of making mix tapes for your your significant other? These days its easier than ever with programs like iTunes. Gather up all the songs that remind you of your Valentine and gift it to him/her.

      10. GIVE THE GIFT OF CHORES.

Does your honey hate doing a certain chore, like taking out the trash? Offer to do whatever chore he or she hates for the next week, month, or year. Greater love hath no man.

      11. GIVE THE GIFT OF FINANCIAL AND PHYSICAL FITNESS.
