I think I speak for everyone when I say we could all use $1000 extra bucks in our bank accounts each month. If that’s true, why not do something about it? Maybe you need $1000 extra to make headway paying off debt. (Read our debt story here). Or maybe you are saving up for something special. Heck, maybe you just want to have an extra $1000 a month to do something fun with. Whatever the reason, I’m sharing plenty of easy ways you can make $1000 a month. 

HERE’S HOW TO MAKE $1000 A MONTH 

VIPKID

You can make $1000 a month by teaching English with VIPKid. You’ll video chat with students from China on a one-on-one basis, helping them hone in on their English skills. The curriculum is provided to you, and the average teacher earns $20 per hour, which is not bad for a job that you can do from your couch. START A BLOG TO MAKE $1000 A MONTH

Have an interesting story or something that you are passionate about? Maybe a skill or knowledge that could help other people? Or perhaps you like writing and connecting with people. Perhaps the thought of actually running a blog seems a little intimidating or even fishy– are people really making six or even seven figures with their blogs? I was certainly skeptical when I was starting out. I was also very intimated by the technical aspects of running a blog since I’m not a computer person. On top of that, I was terrified to share my story with the world. Starting a blog will require effort on your part and it may even require you to be vulnerable. But you know what? It is totally worth it if you are looking for a way to make some extra money (or even a full time income) to help you payoff debt. You never know what person out there you could touch. There is someone (perhaps a lot of someones) who need your voice, perspective, and knowledge.

I’m happy to share that setting up a blog is EASY. Really. If you have ten minutes to spare, you can set up your blog right now so that you can start sharing what the world needs to hear from you.

I personally used BLUEHOST to host our website and loved it. They have the lowest monthly rates in the business, they were PERFECT for what I needed when I started. As your blog grows, you’ll of course want to upgrade, but there’s no reason to pay more than you need to starting out.

When I first set up this blog, even being technologically illiterate, it took LESS THAN 10 MINUTES. I am convinced that if you are computer savvy enough to use basic social media, you are savvy enough to start and keep up with a blog.

RENT OUT YOUR SPACE 

Renting out your space is another great way to earn $1000 a month. If you don’t have a spare room or other spare space, you could consider spending a few nights a month with friends or family while you rent out your place. You can charge more to rent out your place on weekends and holidays and if you live somewhere desireable, you can rent it out for even more. Hop on AirBNB and see what similar spaces are going for. Get started renting out your place with Airbnb here. 

SELL THINGS ONLINE

Another one of the great ways you can earn an exxtra $1000 a month is by decluttering your house and selling your stuff on Poshmark, Facebook Marketplace, Amazon, and or Ebay. If you don’t have any of your own items you want to sell, you can find things at thrift stores and on clearance racks at your favorite stores and sell them.

You can find incredible deals on name brand items, plus you can make tons of money by selling stuff on Poshmark. DELIVER FOOD 

Another way you can earn $1000 a month is by becoming a food delivery person with Postmates, Ubereats or Doordash or another similar company. All you have to do is pick up food for people and take it to them! Pretty easy gig.  

BABYSIT

You can earn $1000 a month by babysitting in the evenings and on weekends. You could offer your services to friends and family or at least let them know you are willing to babysit. They’ll be your best referrals to other families you can babysit. You could also create an account on care.com.

DRIVE PEOPLE AROUND 

You could become an Uber or Lyft driver and drive people around to make some extra cash. This is an especially good way to earn $1000 a month if you live near an airport or in a bigger city where you’ll have lots of opportunities to drive people. 

TAKE SURVEYS

You can also take surveys and perform other online tasks with Swagbucks. When you join Swagbucks, you’ll be able to do simple tasks like watch ads online or take surveys and earn cash back or gift cards. My hubby and I like to hop on Swagbucks in the evenings when we’re unwinding and just watching TV. It’s a really simple way to earn a little extra cash. 

You can also take online surveys for money with Pinecone research and Capterra. 

DO YARDWORK TO MAKE $1000 A MONTH 

Want to make money AND be outside? (Literally two of my favorite things!) Do yard work for other people. This could be as simple as mowing lawns for neighbors, to more complex landscaping. You could weed for people or help plant flowers or gardens. Doing yard work is appealing because it’s something that your clients will continue to need help with. If they don’t have time to mow once. they probably don’t have time to mow at all which means they’ll quickly turn into repeat clients which means you’ll make even more money. 

SUBSTITUTE TEACH

Another flexible way to earn $1000 a month is to give substitute teaching a try. The best part about substitute teaching is that it’s purely optional– you can literally say no any time you get a call to come in. 

REFINANCE YOUR LOANS

If you want to make $1000 a month the easiest way ever, simply refinance your student loans. You’ll earn a cash bonus just for refinancing, plus you’ll likely save thousands of dollars in interest by lowering your interest rate. We recently re-refinanced our student loans and got a 1% lower interest rate, which saves us $44,000 over the life of our loans! BECOME A VIRTUAL ASSISTANT TO MAKE $1000 A MONTH

Did you know being a virtual assistant is actually a job? It’s like being an administrative assistant.  You can perform tasks for other people and earn pretty good money while doing it. Depending on how good you are and how much experience you have, you can earn generally between $10 and $30 an hour — sometimes even more. 

TAKE A 2ND JOB IN THE EVENINGS/ON WEEKENDS 

Another idea is you could find any second job to do after work to add an extra $1000 to your bank account each month. For example, take a job cashiering at Trader Joe’s where you’ll likely make $14 an hour. You’d need to work just under 20 hours a week to earn $1000 each month. I had a friend in high school who routinely did this to get things he wanted. A new version of Xbox came out that he really wanted. So he took a job for a few weeks at Best Buy until he could pay for it, then he quit. He’d do that anytime there was something big he wanted which he could handle since he knew it wasn’t going to be forever. 

BECOME A FREELANCE WRITER

Becoming a freelance writer is another easy way to earn some extra money. You can reach out to blogs that you enjoy in niches where you have some expertise and see if they are interested in hiring you. You’ll need to network and let other people know that you are interested in freelance writing. You can offer up your services on places like fiverr.com as well.

BECOME A PINTEREST ASSISTANT TO MAKE $1000 A MONTH 

If you are looking to make $1000 a month from home,, you could consider becoming a Pinterest assistant. Lots of bloggers and online businesses will pay you to do all of their pinning for them. You’ll need to know about how Pinterest works (it’s not just a pretty platform!) but if you do, you can earn good money pinning for people!

INVEST

Probably the easiest way to earn $1000 a month is to invest money in another business. You’ll need to do your homework and make sure it’s something with a good return to actually earn $1000 a month (more than just recouping the cost of your investment). But if you are looking for passive income, this is the way to go. Of course, it is more risky and you’ll need some money to get started at the outset. 

CLEAN HOUSES TO MAKE $1000 A MONTH 

Cleaning houses is another way you could earn some extra money. You could start by asking friends and family if they need help with house cleaning, or go so far as making your own Facebook or Instagram page where you could market your services. Like any job, the better of a job you do and the happier you keep your customers, the more work you are likely to get. 

MAKE $1000 A MONTH BY TEACHING A SKILL 

Do you have any skills you could teach for money? Think about some things you are good at. Do you play piano? You could teach lessons. Speak a foreign language? You could tutor others. Have mad photography skills? Create a class or an e-course or offer one-on-one teaching. Great swimmer? Offer swim lessons. Whatoever your skills are, monetize them by teaching! 

STREET PERFORM

Speaking of skills, you could perform on the street for extra money! My cute nieces and nephews all play the violin (and are all under the age of 12). They sit outside of a Starbucks in Seattle and are saving up for college with all of their earnings. 

BECOME A PHOTOGRAPHER TO MAKE $1000 A MONTH 

Becoming a photographer has never been easier. There are tons of courses out there that you can take if you don’t already possess the skill or technical know how. Nice DSLR cameras are cheaper than they’ve ever been. And while yes, there are plenty of photographers out there. the demand for digital photos has never been higher. 

ASK FOR A RAISE 

An extremely easy way to make $1000 a month is simply to ask your boss for a raise. Before you ask, consider whether you actually deserve one. Have you been with the company for a long time? Are you a good employee? Do you do a good job? If not, do what it takes to qualify for a raise before you ask for one. That way when you ask for your raise, you’ll have lots of good reasons for your employer to give you one. 

CREATE & SELL A PRODUCT

Creating and selling a product is one of the best ways to make money, especially if you want to make passive income. Think about a pain point in your own life. Is there something that would make your life more convenient? Create a product that fixes that problem! 

DELIVER FOOD OR GROCERIES TO MAKE $1000 A MONTH

You can also deliver food or groceries to people. I expect these jobs will just continue to grow in the coming years. The best part about these types of jobs is that they are crazy flexible– you simply say when you are available to make delivieries, instead of being forced to work a grueling schedule that doesn’t fit with your lifestyle (or other jobs). 

SELL PLASMA

You might not quite earn $1000 a month by selling plasma– this will largely depend on where you live and how often you are able to give plasma. But it’s pretty sweet gig if you can do it. You’ll earn money every time you donate, they’ll hook you up with snacks and you can watch shows (or do other work!) while you are donating.
